The normal dining table came from the desire to make a very simple and understated dining table that just performs well and blends into the room. The table takes its formal cues from both the Jasper Morrison and Barber & Osgerby and gets it’s conceptual backing from Jasper Morrison’s ideas of the “super normal.”
The table feels very modernist through it’s material choice of rift cut white oak. The rift cut has a straight grain that accentuates the linear nature of the table top, the apron, and the tapered legs. Everything feels long, straight, and appropriate. The legs and tabletop have been addressed with round overs that mirror each other and create simple and elegant details. For a finish the oak has been bleached to give it a whiter cooler feel and then coated in lacquer.
